John 21:15-25

Chapter 21
15 When they had therefore finished breakfast, Jesus says to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" He says to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He says to him, "Feed my lambs." 16 He says to him again a second time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" He says to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He says to him, "Shepherd my sheep." 17 He says to him the third time, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved that he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus says to him, "Shepherd my sheep." 18 Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not want. 19 He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he says to him, “Follow me.” 20 Turning around, Peter sees the disciple whom Jesus loved following, the one who had also reclined at the supper on his chest and said, “Lord, who is the one handing you over?” 21 So Peter, seeing this one, says to Jesus, “Lord, but what about this one?” 22 Jesus says to him, “If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me.” 23 Therefore this word went out among the brothers that that disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but “If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?” 24 This is the disciple who testifies about these things and who wrote these things, and we know that his testimony is true. 25 But there are also many other things which Jesus did; if they were to be written one by one, I think not even the world itself would contain the books that would be written.
